Gerwald
Rockenschaub (born 1952) is one of Austria's internationally best
known artists. In the early 1980s, he began to establish his complex
oeuvre of paintings, prints, objects, computer animations, and room
installations. It is characterized by the principle of reducing,
of concentrating on few but essential elements and structures.

Farbfolien
auf Alucore, Aluminiumrahmen, 150 x 250 cm
In his works, Gerwald Rockenschaub refers to the ideas and positions
of modern art as well as to the phenomenon of everyday life and
of pop culture.
For
the exhibition 2275 m3 in the Kunsthalle Nürnberg, Gerwald Rockenschaub
has created a specific route which integrates some of his most important
works and ideas since the early 1980s. The different objects relate
to each other as well as to the rooms of the exhibition hall, thus
creating a new work of art which encircles 2275 m3, the exact volume
of the Kunsthalle Nürnberg.
