Ina Weber
Von Bauhaus zu Real
über Lidl und Minimal

22 Februar-15 April 2007

Ina Weber finds the motifs and themes for her sculptures and watercolours on city streets and squares, in suburbs and industrial estates with their diverse architecture, building styles and design elements, but also in makeshift furnishings or banal interiors.
The artist – who was born in 1964 and lives in Berlin – rediscovers the utopias of Modernism such as progress, internationalism, good form or public welfare in normal everyday life and recounts the history of these concepts in a sober yet humorous way. Ina Weber uses her sculptures of high-rise buildings, supermarkets, Church congress stools or the uniform fittings of pedestrian zones not only to reflect on aesthetic and social conditions, but also to build a bridge to Pop Art and its debate with the products of mass consumerism and everyday cultural phenomena.
