Andrea Knobloch was born in 1961. She studied with Ulrich Rückriem and
David Rabinowitch at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and since 1992 has been working particularly in the area of
specific spatial situations. She is particularly interested in the question, how architectural form is used to
express particular statements, thus determining the users' state of mind and body. Her "spatial interventions"
are always comments made on threshold phenomena which are determined by our way of seeing and by society. In the
context of "Surprise IV", we will show a life-size reconstruction of an exhibition space which has existed
in New York since 1995: the so-called New York Security Mini-Storage. Kunsthalle Nürnberg will be the first
institution in Germany to make use of this temporary and mobile exhibition space constructed by the artist for
an event - details to be announced soon.
