Exhibitions Current Preview Archive Visitor's information Publications Order form	Surprise - "Art and its places - open for the 21 st century"   Start: February 9, 1997   On the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary, the Kunsthalle Nürnberg organizes a panel discussion on the relationship between contemporary art production and its reception in society towards the end of the 20th century. Which role does art play today, and what kind of venues and institutions should be provided to serve as a fitting framework for the presentation of art? Experts from all areas of art, from art institutions, and from the field of art criticism discuss this topic and then proceed to celebrate the double thirtieth birthday of the Kunsthalle Nürnberg and the Institut für moderne Kunst Nürnberg (Nuremberg Institute of Modern Art). The new series of events called "Surprise" will be dealing with current affairs in the art world at various points in time and in events of varied form, thus providing the opportunity of taking into account the event character of artistic production, even at shorter notice.
